●Shillong
Shillong also acts as a gateway to Meghalaya. It's known for the manicured gardens at Lady Haydari Park.Nearby, Ward's lake surrounded by walking trails. NORTH, the Don Bosco centre for indigenous culture's features displays on the region's native people. Waterfalls includes the Elephant Falls to the southwest. East of here,forested Shillong peaks offers city view.

●Cherrapunji 
Cherrapunji also known as " Sohra" is known for its living root bridges, made from rubber trees.To the northeast, Mawkdok Dympep Valley View Point overlooks verdant gorges.In the surrounding hills, the Noh-kalikai,Dain-Thlen and Kynrem waterfalls plunge from forested clifftops.South of town,Mawsmai Cave is illuminated to show its stalagmites. It is noted for having one of the world's highest average annual precipitation levels, about 450 inches 11,430 mm.

●Mawlynnong
Mawlynnong is notable for its cleanliness and also known as Asia's cleanest village. 
The nearest railhead to Mawlynnong is at Guwahati.Guwahati railway  station to Shillong is around 104km and then Mawlynnong is another 78km away. YOU can hire cab from Guwahati to take you to Mawlynnong via Shillong. 

●Dawki
Dawki is a small town located along the border that separates India and Bangladesh. 
Dawki is most famous among tourists for the fascinating Umngot River also known as Dawki River,which features water so clear it could be mistaken for a see-through glass.
The nearest airport is to reach Dawki  is Guwahati's Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport. Several private vehicles play from Guwahati to Dawki via Shillong. The distance between Guwahati Airport and Dawki is 195km and it takes around 5hours and 11 minutes to reach via Shillong.

●Mawsynram
Mawsynram is famous for being the wettest region in the world,it holds a Guinness World Record for receiving almost 26,000mm of rainfall back in the year 1985.The village is located at an altitude of 1400m above sea level and is believed to received such  heavy rainfall due to its location near the Bay of Bengal. 
●Nokrek National Park
The Nokrek National Park and its surrounding eserve areas has a remarkable variety of endemic/wild citrus species that provide a rich gene pool for commercially produce citrus,especially the citrus indica Indian wild orange.

●Balpakram National Park
Balpakram is famous for its forest covered canyon-cum-gorge,which is now a part of National Park.The park also includes the Balpakram plateau and adjacent forest. Balpakram is an important habitat for the Asian Elephant. 

●Jowai
Jowai located at a distance of 66kms from Shillong,is famous for its bucolic setting and breathtaking views with perfect mix heritage and culture. Festivals such as Behdeinkhlam,Chad sukra and laho dance attract many tourists from across India each year.

●Tura
Tura is a cultural and administrative center for garo tribe.There are many waterfalls and streams in Tura. Some of the waterfalls are nongbangdare,plegadare and gandrak Falls.

●Nongriat
It is perhaps known for its living root bridges; one an impressive double decker suspension bridge called jingkieng Nongriat.

●Mawphlang
Mawphlang,home to Meghalaya's Sacred Forest,is a beautiful village situated 35 km away from Shillong. It is famous for its sacred groves.

●Baghmara
This place is famous for its tasty fish and has a historical sea trading connection with Bangladesh. It includes forest,Elephant, rivers,parks and nature.

●Nonpoh
Nonpoh is famous for its Tranquil atmosphere and spell binding landscape. It includes lakes and parks.

●Umaim Lake
Umaim Lake,a mesmerizing man-made reservoir,is located at a distance of 15km north of Shillong. It is more recognized as bara pani.

Best Month to Visit
Meghalaya is best Visited during the winter months of November to February. This is when it is ideal for sight-seeing.

Transportation
1. By Train: If you are planning to travel to Meghalaya by train,the nearest railway from Meghalaya is located in Guwahati, Assam.
2. By Air: Major airport from Meghalaya is located in Guwahati Assam at a distance of 159km Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport
Shillong doesn't have an airport within the city.The nearest airport to the hill station is the Umroi airport near Barapani,which is about 25km away.
3. Road/Self Drive.you can take bus from Guwahati to Shillong.
